Every message carries an honest chain of custody. “Retrieved” is an authenticated action from the recipient’s own device — it cannot be turned off, unlike WhatsApp’s read receipts, and we say so on the export itself.
Originals are sealed with SHA-256 digests at the moment of receipt and the export carries a signed hash chain — whether the record has been altered is a checkable fact, not an assurance. We state the evidential property precisely, and never more.
Rewrites never alter dates, times, amounts or names — that’s enforced mechanically, and the original text remains on the record under audited access. What was actually said is never lost; it’s just no longer the client’s opening position.
